I have an advertising video on DVD. I've played it once and had no problems. I went to play it again and the disk mounted and DVD Player launched and an alert message said this video had been played before where do you want to start? I chose from the beginning. Well the title shot comes up full screen and the control module. I click play and nothing happens.
I've done everything I can with the controls offered in the module and menue bar but I can't get the video to play. What can I do next?
I'm using an AL 15" Powerbook w/superdrive.

Try playing it using VLC instead. You can download VLC from this link http://www.videolan.org/. I use VLC for viewing DVDs or VCDs. Hope this helps.

I don't have a definitive answer for the problem but I think it is because DVD was produced in Finland. You would think if they were using it to market in the the US, it would be able to play in the US market. Strange, it played the first time I put it in to view it. I put in another DVD movie when I got home and it plays just fine. I'll try VLC.

It looks like you are facing the DVD region code issue.

I think there is a maximum number of changes (5?) in the optical drive's region code when using DVDs with different codes. Perhaps he reached that limit and the region code is now locked in the drive.

HARLOT:
I've never messesd with the region code, it was set whenever I installed system or used DVD Player the first time to USA. I remember viewing it the first time because it was the first DVD I viewed om my PowerBook. I played it more than once too. It's no big deal for now. But I had a second problem.
I asked my 13 year old son if he had a DVD I could test in my superdrive. He gave me a case with a DVD. I didn't open it until I got to work. Put the DVD in when I got to work. "Scary Movie" oh I thought, a horror film. Pretty funny stuff. OHHH! THE CHILDREN..... the problem? surreptiously watched the entire movie at work.
