$30 off $299 or more at The Apple Store
Wednesday, February 4 2004 @ 8:47 AM CT | Article Link
Use coupon code KQYUV9U97W at The Apple Store through February 14th and receive $30 off your purchase of $299 or more.
could this be the sign that I was waiting for to pull the trigger on my PowerBook SuperDrive purchase?
also a Apple Rep/Salesperson at CompUSA told me that if I ordered online and customized the order (e.g, 1 512 chip and faster 80 GIG drive) that it would take 1-2 months to arrive in Hawaii...
checked with an Apple Rep/Salesperson on the Apple 1-800 number and they said it should get to me in approx 15 business days using free ground shipping... 1-2 months versus 15 business days - big difference... wonder who is right?

I think you can go with the 15 business day leadtime. This is the typical timeframe other posters have recently quoted. 2-3 month is obsurd at this point. I think the compusa rep wanted your business.

If $30 off a pricetag of around $2000 is important to you, then I suggest you not order from either Apple OR CompUSA. Order from some place like Amazon.com and save yourself the sales tax.

Exactly!!! Sales tax is an absolute deal killer...you can find MUCH better deals online, upgrade the RAM & HD yourself before paying Apple sales tax.

Apple sales tax? It's state sales tax, Apple's legally obligated to charge you because they do business in your state.

I think he was saying "sales tax to Apple."
Great example of how you can read something two ways, though!

Does upgrading the HD on a PB void the warrantee?

I think it depends on whether your particular model has a "user-installable hard drive". I'm not sure what the case is with the newer PBs.
Try doing a search in this forum on "void warranty".
