I am thinking of upgrading to panther using the restore software of the new PB(for 15 and 17) to my Ti. The question: Is it possible? I would like to do this instead of buying the panther software.
Thank you and any response is highly appreciated.

I don't beleieve it will work as the CDs are keyed to the particular machine.

Except that Mike is completely wrong. No system software CDs have been "keyed to a particular machine" since 1999.

You can absolutely use the CD from your AlBook on a TiBook. Of course, it won't afford you a legal license to use Panther on the TiBook.

I'd recommend you pay for Panther, and then still use the AlBook DVD to install it, since it's just one disc, not three (=no disc swapping).

Why do you believe you can dictate which software is important enough to pay for. If you use Microsoft software you should purchase a license, period. However, if you have an objection morally with Microsoft use an alternative like OpenOffice.org, StarOffice, or to a lesser extent AppleWork. But, if you use their product, the programmers at Microsoft's mac division deserve to get paid. The sales of Office V. X as a whole have been quite disappointing, and I would hate to think it is due to piracy. Some of us would like to see future versions of Mac Office beyond 2004 and your selective morality helps no one except you.
