My Powerbook is not doing very well.

1. Nearly 3 months after I brought it home, it just got it's first white spot.

2. My 'Q' no longer works. Well, if I try lower case, nothing happens. If I use caps lock, nothing happens. If I hold shift and 'Q', it works. This happens with an external keyboard too.

3. When typing, I know I can select 'ignore trackpad when typing'. I have that selected. But, it doesn't work. It works on my older Powerbook (Ti), but not the new one.

So, three things that are very annoying.

I do not have AppleCare.

Is any of this covered under the warranty?

I have an Apple Store down the street and will go soon, I just wanted to know before I go.

Thanks.

I would try resetting the PMU and PRAM to fix the keyboard problem - it might work. If not, OF COURSE the white spot issue is covered by your one year warranty. Just bring it in to your apple store and they will take care of the rest.

good luck.

Take it in immediately. You have a full year of warranty on your PowerBook that you can use. Although if you're having problems this early, I'd get AppleCare towards the end of your warranty to make sure you're covered.

Get AppleCare!!! ESPECIALLY on a powerbook..

My TiBook is 2 months out of normal warranty. The other night, as I opened it up, the screen bascially came off in my hands!! Luckily I had AC- getting the whole screen replaced, free of charge. It would have been ~ $1200 fix had I not had applecare.

AppleCare is great, especially for laptops b/c they take so much abuse being carted around. Somethingis bound to fail eventually.
