After using garageband to the point where an alert surfaced saying "drive too slow"...now my pb makes a weird noise when it wakes from sleep. It always made a sound...but now the sound is louder and a little scary...
any ideas whats wrong? Has anyones HD or combo/spuerdrive noise changed at any point?

Not to be an alarmist, but if you have any essential data copy it NOW.

It is better to be safe than sorry. If you can backup the whole drive even better.

If it doesn't go down - great. If it does - you are not completely at a loss.

Already did that...thanks for the tip though. Id be in sad shape if I lost the data on this drive.
The sound seems to be dissipating. I slept and woke the computer a few times and I think its getting better. I think its the optical drive btw. we'll see.....

My superdrive recently kicked the bucket, adding to my list of problems, and it was making a grinding noise. So Apple has said they will replace my PB because it was in for server 3 times in a 2 week period for things related. The problem is, I am without my notebook for almost 3 weeks now, and I need it as a student . I still love my PB, but really want it back.
