Hello everyone, I'm an ibook user who recently acquired a 17" 1Ghz powerbook from a friend. He bought it for work and has been too busy to set it up so I offered to do it for him. Voila! I have a powerbook for the next month!!

Anyway, I was under the impression that these machines came with AE on the motherboard. It's not showing up in the system profiler and I have updated all the Airport software. I even removed the battery to see the MAC address for the AE card. I'm still getting nothing.

I put a call into my buddy to see if I can get the hardware test CD for the powerbook. I don't know what else to do except take it into the Apple store across town. Anybody ever seen this happen?

I was under the impression that it was still a card. It could be a bad card; it could be a bad socket on the logic board. If it isn't showing up in the Apple System Profiler, it is either not there, or you have a hardware related problem.
