Dear all,

I got a Powerbook G4 about 3 months ago, since day one, no matter how I charge my battery it only show about 60% charged, even if I drain or calibrate it, still the best I can get is only 50-60% & it can only last for 1-2 hrs.
can somebody tell me what's wrong & what should I do to correct this problem.
Any advise will be much appreciated.
Thanks

inxz

Have you reset the Power Manager (PMU)? If not, try that and then callibrate the battery again. To reset the PMU, shut down the computer and make make sure you're connected to your power adapter.

Press and hold Shift+Control+Option and while holding those, press and hold the power button to a count of 5. Release everything and press your power button to start up the computer. Your date and time will be wrong, so you'll have to reset that unless you're hooked to a network and are set to have the date/time adjust automatically.

Keep the adapter plugged in until you are fully charged to 100%. Then, unplug and run off battery power until it goes all the way down to a forced sleep mode (should be 0%). Charge fully again and then use as normal.

If that doesn't help, then you are probably suffering from the dreaded Battery Update problem (like me!), to which there is no cure yet. That's assuming, of course, that you installed the Battery Update (it showed up in Software Update back in December).

Good luck!

You might want to give apple a ring, if your computer is still under warranty i would suggest getting them to send you a new battery.

If you haven't tried running the battery update i would do so, it solved all of my battery life issues.
