The screen on my 14.1" G4 seems to have a little more "play" in it than the Powerbooks. It's tight, but not what I anticipated.
Is this normal?

If it doesn't fall down on you, then it's normal. It should have enough friction for the display to stay wherever you put it. It should not have enough friction to break the hinges, which happened a lot with the TiBooks.
