Problem:

Wallstreet that works fine except for the LCD. Would like to install Jaguar on it, except that partway thru the boot process it shuts off the external monitor and goes only to the internal, which isn't working. On the external monitor, I see the grey apple/gear screen, then the monitor stops getting a signal and goes dark. Is there any way around this? Does the resolution I have set in OS 9 make a difference? Is there a workaround for this?

Also-

I'm considering a Wallstreet-as-desktop modification if the LCD can not be fixed for a reasonable price. I have noticed that it will not boot from the OS X cd or a Norton OS X cd when either of these are in a drive connected to the SCSI bus. These are original Apple external CD drives- a CD-300 and a different one of about that era. Is it the speed of the drive or OS X that makes SCSI booting impossible, and is there any workaround for this problem?

The idea is to sell off all of the parts I don't need and keep basically just the processor, motherboard and hard drive (and yo-yo). Sell off everything else (case, battery, expansion bay drive) and add an external keyboard, mouse and monitor. Add OS X and you've got the perfect at-work e-mail and web appliance in a 99% Windoze building.

Being a Power Book, it is capable of dual-head function. You will need to open the machine and physically disconnect the LCD to ensure that it only uses the external monitor (or at least, this is my suspicion).

Off the top of my head, you will need to remove the keyboard, the processor cover, and the hinge cover to be able to disconnect the LCD. There are four screws going into the I/O jack panel that hold the display in place.

Sorry for the sketchy memory. It's been a month or two since I last broke one of those down.

I believe you have to use xpostfacto (see versiontracker.com) to install Jaguar on a Wallstreet. Do you have at least 256 MB or RAM and a 10 GB HD? Installing Jaguar with less than those requirements would be wasting your time.
