I have a powerbook 190 here that doesnt want to boot up. When I start it up, the mac computer shows up and its smiling. Then it goes to the "welcome to macintosh" screen and just sits there. Any idea what could be wrong?

sounds like you're running OS 9. You've probably got an extensions conflict, or perhaps some damaged system files. You can disable the extensions during startup by holding down the shift key.
Do you have any startup CDs, like your system install disk or perhaps Norton Systemworks? Startup from the CD by holding down the 'c' key, then run Disk First Aid (Apple Disk) or Norton Disk Doctor (Norton Systemworks.)
You can get Norton Systemworks version one (the later versions are for Jaguar) from megamacs.com for around $10 plus freight.

OS 9 will not boot the PowerBook 190. You are probably running System 7-ish. I don't believe the 190 came with a CD-ROM drive. You may need to look around for your System 7.5 install floppies. Look for the Disk First Aid floppy.
You can, of course, try starting up with the shift key held down to disable extensions. However, Norton SystemWorks comes on a CD with OS 9 on it, which that machine cannot run, as it has a 68k processor (not a PowerPC).

Yep, Detrius is right, PB 190 won't boot OS 9. Wow, a slice of history!

Ok I just tried booting it up with the shift key down. The only difference it made was added "extensions off" under the "welcome to macintosh". It still just sits at that screen.
Unfortunately I dont have any disks or anything for this computer. I dont even have another mac, only my 2 PC's. Is it possible to make a copy of OS 7.X using my PC to load onto my mac?
