I have an iBook G3 700 (DVD-CDRW) with the following problem. Please read the follow to fully understand the problem i have with my computer.

About a year ago now, my computer started to have -36 errors. Every time i would sync my ipod i would get this error. Originally i thought that it was the ipod but i then received this error with all disc burning, in target mode, etc.
Another peculiarity was my headphone jack. Every time i plugged in my headphones my hard drive would immediatly begin to spaz out. It was awful.

I sent my computer to apple and they thought that it could be a logic board problem so swapped out my logic board for me free of charge. (This is a year ago...) When i got my computer back i could now listen with headphones, but all the other errors remained.

Thinking it could now be the hard drive, i completly erased and reloaded panther onto it. I figured if there were corrupt drivers or irregular branching on the hard drive that this would solve it. Wrong. -36 found its way along. What is awful, however, is that i was only able to back up certain files. Every document i had was saved, but every mp3 (1500) went into thin air.

So a year later i'm still in the situation. I now have about 800 songs on my computer and backing up is still not an option. I can't burn cd's. I can't use target mode. And sometimes i even get the -36 error with a large wireless transfer. Weird eh?

Does anybody have any suggestions? I am considering purchasing a new ibook hard drive (where can this be bought?) but i want to make sure that the next step will solve this problem. Help!

Thanks a lot,

Tom

Is the iBook still under warrenty? If not, you could probably get the logic board replaced again since Apple said that it was a logic board problem to begin with. Then again, it sounds as if the problem wasn't fixed the first time you took it in. You might still be covered though. Check this out:

Also, have you checked to see if the hard drive is damaged with the Hardware Diagnostics CD? Repaired permissions and all that good stuff?

Hopefully you get it up and running soon.
