I have a question about cleaning the ibook. I want to know if one of those "Desktop blowers" cleaner things are safe to use with the ibook. If anyone is unclear to what I am talking about... It is one of those cans with a trigger that comes with a thin red straw to attach and it blows air really really hard. I think there is a lot of crap that is between the keys of my ibook and maybe even in the track pad.

I think of the track pad including the button because I once splashed a drop of water right next to the button on the right side and the end of the droplet touched the crack and ever since then the very very slightest touch to the trackpad or button would made a loud "clickity" sound and it is quite a nuisance. Seems as though it is making a sound of something sticking but I can't feel the stickyness.

Wouldn't opening up the ibook void the warranty?

Any insight would be appreciated.

Cans of compressed air are perfect for blowing away the junk that gets under the keyboard.

As for cleaning the iBook itself, I recommend a soft, moist cloth. Try to avoid dropping water on the iBook as water and electronics generally don't mix very well. I'm not sure what could be causing your click problems, but taking it apart yourself would void the warranty. Have a professional do it if it's really bad.

For cleaning the screen, again use a soft, damp cloth (no chemicals/Windex/etc). www.klearscreen.com is also a great choice.

Radtech's Ice Creme is a fantastic product that can restore the iBook/PowerBook to its glory. I don't know if it'll help with the trackpad thing, though.

Thanks for the replys. The trackpad isn't that big of a deal though. I am going to go buy a can soon.
