Crooked Keyboard?

So I got my 12 inch iBook G4 today, and lifed the keyboard up. But for whatever reason I can't get it back down! I have the clips aligned and everything, the right side seems to be the troublesome side, it sticks up while the left part is clipped in.

This is so frustrating, I've built over 30 computers, and this is by far the most tedious thing ever.

It shouldn't be hard, so it's hard to say why it doesn't work for you. There is a video somewhere on the Apple support pages on how to add ram and airport card. It shows how to correctly remove and attach the keyboard.

Did you make sure that the center clip is retracted all the way?

Yep, I got it on there, but the space bar and key to the right of it seems a bit squishy. Hmmm

If it's too squishy then you should have looked into a PB. Hands down the best laptop keyboard ever made.

the new G4 keyboard is very nice and not spongy like the G3 was..if you are having this kind of flex it is just not seated properly..I would try pulling it and putting it back in again

Well I got it back in there fine, every key is perfect except for the little enter button next to the right of the space bar, but its hardly noticable. So no big deal, I just had to do some slight flexing to make it clasp down.

I just got two brand new G4 iBooks and both have the exact same issue you describe... the keyboard will no go in easily. I can can either the left or the right side in smoothly but then the opposite side gets stuck and you would really need to force it down.

Any describe a bit more on how you resolved this?

We are clearly not alone in this... I bet others are having this problem too,

Sometimes I have trouble. I guess it's just a matter of trial and error. Perhaps try putting both sides down at the same time or switching the side you put down first. Perhaps the keyboard is just slightly off center. If it fit once, it will fit again.

I've had a hard time getting the keyboard to resit properly too. I had to just try it over and over, nudge here, nudge there. I just gave up eventually when I couldn't get the 'volume down' key to stop rubbing against the plastic of the top edge of the 'space for the keyboard'.
