I am a graphic designer interested in getting a PowerBook. I was looking at the refurbished 1ghz 17" PB at the apple store. I would like to ask around and if others have found this computer performing well, in programs such as Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Flash MX and Dreamweaver. How well does this computer, at this speed, run these programs?

Illustrator and Photoshop work pretty darn well with it, I use my cousins 17" quite a bit and it runs Adobe Programs well and the widescreen is a dream for getting the palletes out of the way. Just load it up with as much RAM as you can. You might be better off getting the 15 1.25Ghz if it is cheaper, seeing how it has more processing speed, double the cache, and a nice screen as well. Both will do fine, but rendering wont compare to 1.8 or 2.0 dual G5.
