I just got a new powerbook 17 1.33, and I use the fireware port to charge my ipod's battery. It seems the time it takes to charge is much longer compare to using the AC adapter.

Anyone have same experience? why would this happen?

If you want to get a completely full charge you should plug it into the AC adapter. When charging over your firewire from the Pbook it only charges 80 percent if I remember correctly.

You're not going crazy...it really does take longer to charge that way.

Think about it. You plug directly into the wall and all power into the adaptor will go to charging the iPod. If you plug into your Powerbook, only the power allocated to powering Firewire devices will be used. The PB still has to charge the battery and run the entire system. Charging an external Firewire device is not top on its list of power priorities, nor should it be considering the extra battery drain when your PB is running off of its own battery.
