Okay, so here is my problem. My friends 14 inch ibook was stolen. In stealing the ibook they ripped the keningston lock out of the side of the case. We were able to get the laptop back but now there is a hole in the side of the case that where the lock used to be on that silver plasic strip going around the case between the top and bottom covers. I am comfortable replacing the parts myself but I am not sure which parts I need to buy. Does anyone have any idea which parts I would need? I can be more specific later if what I am asking is not entirely clear.

Thank you,
Matthew

The part that includes the trackpad is the top case kit. My guess (not having needed to purchase one of those in a while) is that will likely go for ~$100 (give or take a lot). That shouldn't be too bad to replace yourself. If you are also talking about replacing the internal frame (whatever it's called), you are in for a shock as to how much work that would be.

The top case kit has a screw hidden underneath the magnet that helps hold the keyboard in place.
