what is max ram on G4ibook, 640 or more?

should I get a 512 to max out at 640 or can i get a 1gig memory stick?

You can get a 1GB stick of ram in addition to the 128MB soldered onto the board.

I had 256 installed from factory. Unfortunately, they have only 128 on board and the other is a removable 128. Bought a 512 to bring total to 640 MB and THERE IS A DIFFERENCE! Everything seems faster and VPC with XP is more than usable for me playing Ultimate Bet Poker...

Are you sure that it can take 1GB??? Why does the Apple website say that it can only take 640MB of RAM? Apparently they can upgrade the hard drive too...neat stuff if it works!

A quick search will reveal that several people on these boards have successfully installed 1GB sticks.

Unlike RAM, the hard drive is NOT replaceable under warranty.
