As I noted in this thread, I'm planning to take apart my iBook to do the inverter cable repair and add a larger HD. I remember a while ago reading about someone who installed a USB Bluetooth module inside an iBook, but I can't find it now. Does anyone remember this and have a link?

Are there any other suggestions for things to do while I'm inside the iBook? It's a 500Mhz dual-USB, i.e. the first generation of the current line. I've already changed the color of the Apple logo, but nothing else. I'm aware of the over-clocking possibilities, but don't want to deal with surface-mount soldering. I may consider stripping the white paint and changing the case color, but am not sure about that.

well, I found the page I was thinking of for Bluetooth—it was a TiBook, not iBook. So, does anyone who's taken apart an iBook know if there's room to do the same thing? To summarize: in the first version, this guy cut the female end off a USB extension cable, soldered the wires to the inside of the USB port, and stashed it and a USB Bluetooth adapter in an empty spot inside the TiBook. In the second version, he removed the casing and connector from the BT adapter and directly connected it to the inside of the USB port with ribbon cable.

There isn't any free space inside the Dual USB/Early 2001 iBooks that comes to mind. Doubt it would be feasible.

I'd wish they make those Bluetooth adapters SMALLER.

Or if someone could custom make one that would fit as flush to the iBook's USB port as possible. That would be as good, me thinks.
