I've read from users that the round AC adptr for the clamshell will definitely work directly into the white dual USB iBook 500mhz and 600mhz models; At what model does the (plug size change?) iBook no longer work w/the yo-yo?

The Yo-yo adapter on my mom's Pismo (circa 2000) is actually bigger than the current sized plug. But for the original 500 MHz iBook, I believe the plug was the same, only a different color/style (black/gray with no glowing ring(?).

You folks let me know if I'm wrong…

The yo-yo didn't work on my iBook 700. It was the later model 700 so I can't vouch for earlier models.

The iBook 600 that I have, otherwise known as the "Late 2001" model shipped with the white brick type (purchased March 2002) if that's of any assistance.

I meant for the adapter that came with the 500 MHz iBook, I think the "brick" was the same, but the plug had the current form as the ones used today. I was not referring to the adapters used with the clamshell iBooks, as I do believe they were different (maybe like the Pismo's adapter that I referred to earlier.)

I have a yo-yo left over from a Lombard. I will end up purchasing the "Generation Gap" from www.iglow.com It will allow the use of the yo-yo with the larger diameter plug to fit on my 700MHz iBook that normally uses the white brick. Great for a travelling ac adapter.

So it sounds like at the 700mhz model, or some revision of it, the plug size on the iBook changed.

This must be documented Somewhere.

Hmm... the Clamshell (Yo-Yo) Adapter from my clamshell will not work with my 600mhz Dual USB iBook.

My 500mhz iBook shipped with the yoyo adapter. This same adapter or the white brick would work with any white iBook. Don't know if the plug was different on the clamshell (maybe).

The yoyo adapter existed with both the small and large power plug.

All yoyos were of the same specs: 45W, 24V.

Clamshell iBooks use the large plug, all later models use the small plug. Other than the plug size, any adapter that fits will work.

Tooki is right.
Just want to add that I've found that all the yo-yo's, w/either large or small plugs, have the same part # printed on the bottom of the plastic yo-yo itself: M7332. Apparently, only the boxes they came in are labeled w/the appropriate diff part #.

I got the generation gap from madsonline and so far I've used a first generation yo-yo, a second generation yo-yo (at work) and a black brick (travel) with my G3/900, no problems, not as much heat as the factory adapter in fact.
He can be fixed -- you can't.
