Hey all

Am coming over to the States from England for my Honeymoon in June and was wondering if a US bought Applecare would be ok once back in the U.K.?

I was under the impression that Apple Laptops have a global warranty, and with the exchange rate so good at the mo i would certainly save a few quid on getting it whilst there.

iBook Applecare in U.K. is £200 = roughly $360

Anyone know for sure if Apple UK will honour the plan?

Cheers

Chris

Can't see why not.

If you are really concerned ring Apple. The person at the other end of the line will most likely understand the situation.

I can't see how it can be too different from buying a machine with applecare from overseas and making a claim.

Hello,

The original warranties, that is the warranties out of the factory, are valid `WORLDWIDE` for all portable devices, such as iBook, Powerbook and iPod. These serials are open to all Apple service locations WORLDWIDE, and they all see the factory Warranty.

However,

The so called `Extended Warranties` are ONLY VALID locally. When you extend the warranty, ONLY your LOCAL APPLE updates their database, hence the info is not obtainable from other locations. This is the situation for all of the computer companies. (well, most)

Best would be to ring your LOCAL Apple. If they say `YES`, be sure to ask them for a WRITTEN approval, since this is an one-on-one approval, and a future manager/technician can well reject it.

Regards
