I am going to buy a new computer for college and I was wondering if I should upgrade my RAM in a standard 15" Powerbook, which starts at 512RAM.
I want to be able to run games like Halo without having to turn down graphics options.
Any help would be great, thanks.
iTunes, iPod.....all I know is I love it.

Then a notebook probably isn't for you...

Upgrade the RAM anyway though if you can, 1 GB is a good amount.

If you want to play games, get a cheap PC-rig. For normal stuff 512 MB is pretty OK, you can upgrade RAM anytime soon, if the machine doesn´t fit your needs.

In general, Mac OS X machines will use the HD is there is not sufficient RAM. PBs have especially slow HDs in general.

I consider 640 MB minimum for an Apple notebook, 1 GB is even better if you are going to do any kind of graphics work.
