Hey folks -
Had an interesting problem crop up with my Opaque 16mb VRAM iBook today. Plugged it in to my AC adapter at work, and the battery starts to charge. After about 15 minutes of charging (Lightning bolt in the battery icon in the menubar), the icon inexplicably changes to an X and the menu says "No Battery Available". If I disconnect the AC power, the system will continue to run for about 2 minutes before totally powering off. When the iBook is in this state, the indicator on the AC plug is green (Before this occurs and it's charging, it is amber, like normal.) I tried reseating the battery and resetting the PMU (control+option+shift+power with the machine powered down.) But no luck. Also interesting to mention is that the power indicator lights on the battery seem to stay on all the time indicating a full charge (all four lit up), even if the battery is seperated from the iBook. The battery seemed to be in good condition before this started, providing about 3 hours worth of charge with normal use.
Any suggestions?
