Hello.

I'm a new over of a 15" PB to replace my 17" iMac. I've noticed that even after heavy iMovie editing etc that at 60-degrees-C (140F) the fan doesn't come on. Is this normal? The PB is very hot to the touch and I'm worried that there is something wrong (10.3.3 updates, hardware, etc.) I have a Dell 8200 Laptop (2.4Ghz) and those fans would be kicking in at high gear at that temperature.

At what temperature do your fans come on?

(I've used the search function but could not find experience/temperature for when the fans come on... unless I"m blind. )

Thanks.

I run the distributed.net client at priority 8 and after about 2-3 minutes of 100% processor usage, the fan kicks on. I've not used a temperature monitoring program to see what it's looking like, but I would venture to say about 150F is the kick-on point. I have the client set to shut off at 160F and it doesn't shut off, but it did shut off when I had it set to 150F. It's probably somewhere right in there.
