I just got my 15" AlBook from Amazon last week. I had been holding off on the purchase for quite a while waiting for new models but lost the religion. With my luck, Apple will release the new models next week.

What got me off the fence in the first place was Amazon's $100 rebate and the added attraction of my credit card (FirstUSA eCard) that offers a 5% rebate from Amazon purchases. As luck would have it, though, the same day I received the PowerBook from Amazon, they lowered the price of the PowerBook by $150! I was really bummed but thought I would go ahead and vent some with Amazon customer service. To my disbelief, they actually credited my credit card with the $150 right away.

So I'm getting away with a 15" 1.25gHz AlBook for somewhere around $2200 after refund and rebates. I guess that'll take some of the pain away from seeing new models released in the next month or so.

Kinda unrelated, but...

Anyone else see these crazy refurb prices on Amazon Parteners listing for the Pbook?? (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...448281-0503363)
Price lists $1650+shipping...

Anyone know the deal with this? Sounds to good to be true, but Amazon has to have some sort of liabilty with it, so I would think they have checked it out?

Thanks in adavnce,

Rob

Read the fine print "presale new units". They are usually bogus deals.

I have seen a bunch who were removed by Ebay! They charge you now & "ship in 2-3" weeks?

MAYBE!!!!!!!

if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. There was a woman who got busted for this (after operating for almost a year, it seems) on ebay a while back... They quote you enough lead time, (like 3-4 weeks) that they've got enough time for your check to clear, and for them to abscond without a trace before you notice they're gone.

Don't go there.

FWIW, the Apple refurb. sale on 1.25s for $1999.00 seems to still be ongoing-- that's a heck of a price.

does anyone remember applepurchaseprogram.com ? they advertised computers for half price. i of course did much research on this company, and found many complaints of how they charged them double what apple was charging. always do your research before purchasing.
