Well, Apple has my 12-in PB. It had developed a shadow, or dark spot (quite small, but noticeable) in the lower left corner. We were going to a mall with an Apple Store today, so I took it along and showed the genius bar guy that, along with a ripple in the upper left corner that occurs when the machine is touched at that point on the outside.

Sniff. My PB has gone to be fixed. I'm suffering withdrawal.

But -- all I can say is I sure am glad I purchased AppleCare, b/c the machine came out of warranty about 7 weeks ago. That dark spot just developed in the last week or so.

Of course, I'm afraid they'll ruin it fixing the LCD screen...

Hey! Sorry about the problems, but please post back with results of what they fixed and how it looks at that point!

Will do! I knew ity was going to have to go in -- I'm just glad it's not seriously inconveniencing me this week. (Kind of suffering from PB withdrawal, though.)

I might dig out my paperwork so I can see if I can get any kind of progress report online. I'm thinking Apple KNOWS its customers need their computers back ASAP and so tries to minimize downtime.

Well, I figure AppleCare has now paid for itself.

I had a very good experience with AC. I took the PB (a 12-inch, not quite 14 months old) into a retail store to have them look at the dark spot on the lower left corner, as well as a rippling that occurred if you touched the cover in the upper left corner.

That was Tuesday. My computer arrived at my home this morning (Friday), less than 72 hours later.

And all appears well! Apple even replaced my missing rubber foot. It looks like I got a new LCD screen. The flat rate repair charge would have been a minimum of $310, according to the estimate I have. And of course it could have been much more. So I am really congratulating myself that I went ahead, even though I was cringing at the expense, and got AppleCare.
