Went back to check out the price... i hit BUY on the dealram site and it took me to the $277 checkout price. (clicking on the 18004memory link might take you to a $349 price).

that price has been there for a while on dealram, but it's not specifically labelled for use with Macs. does anyone know if this ram will work with the strict ram specs of the current powerbooks and panther?

I think the $349 is Apple spec ram and the $277 is generic. Generic should work, but then again, think of the following:

2 gigs of ram guaranteed to work with your Powerbook:$700
2 gigs of ram that should work with your Powerbook: $550

Difference:$150

Potentially not having to spend all weekend tracking down random kernel panics to your ram then trying to get an RMA on two sticks of ram that will test perfect when returned: priceless.

i got the 1GB RAM today... it is Samsung, it WAS $277 (i believe it's now $295) and it works fine on my 15" Al PB... i put in 2GB and it is a great upgrade. Anyone searching for RAM might want to check out the dealram.com site:

http://dealram.com/prices/systems/23073/1GB.html

The seller (18004memory.com) delivers great service, too. i called to make sure the item i was getting was the same 1 GB Samsung stick Apple uses. They said the memory's specs were the same as the memory for Apple's (15" & 17" Al PB's).

Hope this helps you save some money.

Thanks for the update. Right now, I don't need 2 gigs of memory. Want on the other hand... I will probably bite when the prices hit about $250 a stick. So a question to all the other readers, when do you anticipate upgrading?
