ok this just started on teh last few boots. when it loads up i cant see the first loadin screen ( apple and little circle scrolling ants). i can see the 2nd loadin screen but its very dark. when i get to my Dtop and i can mess with the brightness settings ( F1,F2) its set to 1. can anyone help? i didnt install anything in the past few days other then themes and icons.

Have you tried updating your OS? A friend of mine just bought an iBook G4 which was dark during the apple logo startup section of bootup, however after she updated to 10.3.2 it went away.
