Briefly, purchased this used iBook 700, 640, 20 gig in January. Very cool machine, I love it. It came with 10.2.8 installed, and having learned my way around Jag for a while, I'm ready to do Panther. My question is, in order to preserve my current settings and not goof up programs already installed, how should I go about the Panther install. I've already backed up my system to an external HD.

This really isn't an iBook question. You might want to try the OS X forum next time.

To answer your question, you do an "Archive Install." At some point during the install setup you can click "options" or something at the bottom of the window, and one of the options will be Archive Install. It's really pretty obvious when you get there.
