First of all - If your iBook is still under warranty or Applecare, do not hesitate to take it to a certified Apple service point.
I'm not sure what you're talking about, but I'm guessing you've got backlight problems. I've no idea on the model either, but considering the Dual USBs have been around for three years I'll give it a go.
At least the early models have a problem with the hinge wearing through the cables going to the display. I fixed my 500 with a
hack a while back. Depending on the model you might be covered by
the logic board replacement program. See the range of serials to see if yours is valid.
It'd help if you'd describe the problem more precisely. What is the model and the exact symptoms?
