I'm heavily considernig buying a 12" iBook G4. But I'm left wondering with a few questions..
 • Will it be re-designed in the next year?
 • What is the most common issue with it?

Those are about it.

I am pretty close to ordering a 14" but I considered the 12" quite heavily when I started this process. It came down to screen size.

I have a few friends with 12" ibooks and the thing they all talk about is feeling a bit cramped on the small screen (of course I'm over 40 so my friends and I don't have the best eyesight). The 12" ibook is wonderfully compact, but I just wasn't sure I could work with the small screen no matter how sharp and bright it is. If you're comfortable with the 12" screen it sure is a great little laptop.

Good luck with your decision

FWIW the 14" 933 is the best bargain in the ibook line. I don't know what the pricing is like in Canada but on the Apple US website its only $200 more than the comparably equipped 12".

Good luck.

I would definately go for the 14" 933...My Girlfriend has the 12",its really nice but the screen is kind of cramped even though it is the same resolution.

Funny, I played Half Life with a fastback from Canada.

Anyway,
I got the 12" ibook myself and love it. The screen is small indeed but when it's in my lap I'm close enough where I can still easily see it. I occasionally turn the text font up a notch for those super small fonts but overall I love how portable it is.

Who knows if it will be re-designed next year. Internally, probably (I expect serial AT to replace Parallel AT), I also expect some form of superdrive (probably without lightscribe which I would expect in the powermac models). Also faster processor and possibly faster video. About the same battery life and weight.

The number one issue is that it is barely sufficient. In almost every category it is barely sufficient. However, it is sufficient, and at a good price compared to other models. It is fast enough for almost all common operations...

It is the only Mac I own, and frankly the only Mac I will buy...

However, I will probably upgrade mine (Ibookg4 12" 800), as soon as I can get my hands on the next model. If I can get 1.2 and DVD-R and keep the size, price and keyboard (I personally love the IBook 12" g4 keyboard), that will probably keep me happy for a couple of years.
