I posted this in the "games" section, but got no response. Y'all got any ideas?
I just got a brand new iBook G4. I'm loving the machine, and I was very happy to see it came with deimos rising (I love ambrosia). For some reason the game always gives me an error when I try to play. I can open the game and mess with preferences, but when I click on the level select part it gives me this error (more or less) "error: some files are missing or corrupted". I tried restoring the game from the software restore CDs, but it does the same thing. EV Nova is running great (almost done with the polaris line). Any suggestions? Thanks,
-Ezra

Hello,
I would assume that Ambrosia would be the best place to go for advice about one of their games. They are usually quite good and respond quickly to queries.

Version 1.05 was in there. I downloaded 1.06 and put it in the deimos rising folder (replacing the old one). Now it won't even open. It gives me the error: "Sorry, but this version of deimos rising is incompatible with the game data. Please ensure that you have a complete installation". Weird, huh? Guess I'll email ambrosia.

When you did the download did you replace all the files that where included? You also need to keep the original Deimos Rising app and also have the updated one. You open the update one to play the game. Make sure your read the Read Me that was included and put the right files where they belong.

Here's what the readme says:
"Simply drag the Deimos Rising application into your existing Deimos Rising folder, replacing the application there."
There was only the one application to put in the folder (and I did replace the old one).

I think you need to download a special update for the 'bundled' version of the game. You can get it straight from the Ambrosia site at http://www.ambrosiasw.com/games/dr/addons.html - it's called bundle update. I think that should work as the files you replaced already will be replaced with the proper ones .

Nope, still not working. I even tried restoring the games and then applying the bundle version of the update. It's still saying that it's missing "critical files" (or that they may be damaged. What the hell?
