I'm pretty new to mac, and this forum. I got a 12 inch powerbook, and I love it so far. What brand of dvd-rw can I use with this laptop? I've tried the Memorex...but it did not work. Any suggestions anyone? I don't want to buy another dvd-rw that might now work.

Oh yeah, I tried searching...I typed in "dvd rw" and I got 30 something pages. Please don't flame me for not searching...I did search...but did not read all the pages...who has time to read thirty something pages with 40 something post on each page?

you need DVD-R disks. any brand...I believe Apple doesn't allow the use of DVD-RW DVD's.. only DVD-R.

According to this page Apple supports it:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=152176

There is also instructions for erasing DVD-RW's, so I bet it's possible.

Are you sure you have a DVD writer on your Powerbook (it might only be a CD writer)?

Here are some instructions on how you can tell.

I've never had luck with Memorex CDRs or CDRWs on any Mac. Lots of coasters. So I'm not surprised that Memorex DVD-Rs don't work.

Try Verbatim or Fuji brand.
