I have decided to pick up at 12" Powerbook finally after being on PC for awhile and I was wondering if any of you guys have had any successes with haggling with Apple Store employees. I was gonna try to get them to throw in the student edition of MS Office or something like that. Also do they accept the student discount at Apple stores? Thanks.

EDIT: one more question... do they charge tax online? i am a CA resident

They do accept the student discount at the store but there is no way they will budge on the price.

I haggled over the phone with Apple before and they dropped the overall price by 5%!

They gave me $100 off my 12" PB today and i didnt even ask.

From what I have heard of Apple, they are the worst to deal with in person. Would the drop the price on an already low student discount? I gotta have the new pb 15"!

Note: this was not an edu discount. I don't why they gave me the $100 off...maybe they were really trying to push the super drive on me.

Well, either way you have it, $100 off is pretty nice. I guess I can't gripe about the edu discount. That is a pretty sweet deal, too.
Now I just have to talk the wife into the computer. Good news is that she likes the iBook we have now.
