So here's the deal-

I'm running a powerbook 550 right now. Boy, it's slow. Garageband actually laughs at it when trying to play more than three tracks.

I want to upgrade.

I have access to a developer discount on a hardwayre purchase. Basically, I can get the new 15in. Powerbook 1.5ghz G4 Superdrive for $1999. Or I can get an ibook 14in. 1.2ghz for $1349.

I need a big screen cause I'm 26 and already my eyes are going. I wanted to wait for a G5 'book but my discount is up in September and I doubt those g5's are gonna make it into portables before january 2005.

What should I do?

thanks,

geoff

Did you ever think of getting say a 12in and getting a nice 17in CRT or LCD to go with it? If not, I'd say go for a 15in and milk that discount all the way.

I thought about it, but doesn't the graphics card and the bus suck on the 12in.? It would be much, much more portable... I guess I would want this computer to last until the third revision of the G5 'books.

thanks,

g
