My 1.33GHz 17" Powerbook has 512mb of RAM.
What would increaing the RAM do for it's performance, both in terms of multi tasking and when using a single application?
Also idealy how much ram should I add?

I found that putting another 512MB (for a 1GB total) into my PBG4 1.25 made for a wholly "different world". I do not know whether 768MB would be equally good (i. e. where the step from not enough to enough is for OSX) but another 512 will be fairly cheap to get.

On my PB 1.33 I went from 1 GB to 2 GB and WHOHHHH - what an amazing difference - games, photoshop - everything is sooo much faster.
Wherever you go... there you are.

When you say multitasking, do you mean switching from Safari to Mail, or from Photoshop to another biggie? It all depends on how many and what type of apps you are running. Tell us what you're doing with your computer and we'll know better.
