I keep hearing that the pbook keyboard is better than the ibook keyboard...why is this? Maybe I am crazy, but when I was at the store typing on them both, I kinda liked the ibook 14 inch keyboard better than the other keyboard on the pbook. Plus, I felt like the pbook keyboard was too scrunched up....why is th epbook keyboard better? Do you like it for comfort or does it have more features or what?? Thanks.

Well first were you comparing the 14" iBook vs the 12" PB, that may account for the scrunching you mentioned. As for which is better, that's a subjective opinion. I myself compared the two and based on other factors went with the PB, but I thought the PB's keyboard was better then the iBook.

I think the scrunching your feeling is only in your mind. The 12" PB keyboard is exactly like the ones on the 15 and 17 inch ones. There just isn't room on the side for the speakers. Other than that, maybe the PB model has been out on display for awhile and they keys have taken a beating?

the new iBook keyboards may be made of the same quality as the powerbook keyboards. i dunno. one's silver, one's white.
the older ibooks with the translucent keys felt cheaper.

the pb keyboards are better than the ibooks. the g4 ibooks are an improvement over the g3 ibooks as they are less flexible, but the pb keyboards have *no* flex. the new pb no longer has the spongey, click-clack feel, they now feel solid.

Your keyboard preference is a sujective opinion. Most people I know who uses Mac portables prefer the PB keyboard. So I wouldn't say which one is "better".

I like the texture of the ibook's (G4) keys and the solid feel of the pbook 17 keyboard. The ibook's keyboard is removable and is not as solid and makes much more noise when typed on, the pbook 17's keyboard is the opposite. The pbook 17's keys don't feel as solid as the ibook's, maybe this is down to the plastic used to get the colour to match the case, or the illuminated keyboard needs a certain type of plastic.
So the ideal would be ibook-esque keys on a pbook keyboard.
