Dear All,
I am currently working on a project which makes it necessary that I remove the screen of a pismo g3 Powerbook WITHOUT loosing the function, i.e. meaning that I have to find some sort of extension for the lead that connects the LCD screen with the powerbooks body. I'd love to hear from anyone who can tell me anything about how likely it is to suceed with that / what the part(s) are called. (The project I am working on is going to involve a wearable gallery space for londons main Art institutions).
Thanks a lot in advance, regards from sunny london,
H

You're going to have to extend the display cable and the inverter cable in order to move the display more than a couple of inches away from the base. I would speak to a specialist LCD supplier, manufacturer, etc. to find out if you can get a longer display and inverter cables (remove the screen and take apart the display housing to view these cables). You'll also need to note the exact model of LCD in the Pismo (either a Samsung or a LG).
Better yet, why don't you buy a desktop LCD that uses a VGA connector, remove some or all of the housing and hook that up to your Pismo. You could remove the Pismo's LCD and run it headless so to speak. You'll need to account for power to the display if you did this.
Another thing you could do is buy a different 14.1 inch panel + inverter board with extra long cables from a specialist LCD supplier and wrangle it into the Pismo's display bezel or mount in some other material.
Good luck. You should be able to accomplish this with a little creative thinking.

Check out this link to know what you are getting into:

Having replaced my LCD in my Pismo, I wouldn't recommend entertaining try to extend the LCD driver cable, its far too delicate.
