I'm looking for a sleeve for my new 12" ibook. I need one that I can just throw in to my backpack. Here's what I've found:
http://www.booqbags.com/Detail.bok?no=22
http://www.marware.com/SFSleeves.html
http://www.jambags.com/MacCase%20Sleeves.htm
http://www.radtech.us/Products/LaptopScreensavrz.aspx#
(This is just for the screen, they make a sleeve too, but it looks to be too thin to provide any protection except from scratches)
http://www.sfbags.com/
http://www.timbuk2.com/tb2/catalog/p...;categoryId=21
http://marware.com/SFSleeves.html

I'm kinda leaning toward the waterfield sleevecase, but not too sure. Have y'all had any experience with any of these? Thanks for the help,

Check out the huge thread here

I know it's in the powerbook forum, but most everything will work for the ibook as well.

yeah, thats where I got those links. Seems like the powerbook people tend to like the waterfield stuff. Just wanted to see if any of you iBook people had ever tried em out. They look pretty good to me, I'll probably go for that.

I went with the iSleeve because:
• I like to have a bag as narrow as possible so I want stored side in first,
• I like to have a flap over the top so I don't have to zip and unzip everytime I take it out.
• Shoulder strap and top carrying handle a must.

Probably want all these things because my 1st gen iBook just fit in a little back pack with all these features I got at a convention. Light, easy, not obviously a laptop, the only thing it was missing was some padding. The iSleeve was the closest to this feature set that has worked so well for me.

Check out the Spire Dash as well. I own an Spire Boot bag, and I love it.

How does it stay closed, Velcro? What kind of material is it and is it waterproof. Last thing, how many cm of padding does the thing have and is there any areas in the corners or seams where there is less padding?

I got the SportFolio II from Marware, but it only has hard top and bottom protection (over the LCD and across the bottom of the ibook).

With the ibooks, there's been an issue about cracks at the seams on the corners. To prevent such things, you really need a case that has hard corners and lots of padding, as well as a hard top and bottom. I like my SFII, but I realize its limitations, and I can't put it in a larger bag when I fly -- I have to carry the ibook separately because there's no "crush protection."
He can be fixed -- you can't.

I checked out all the links above... and ordered the powersleeve from Booqbags.com. To me, that one was the coolest looking and fit my needs best. I'll let you guys know what it's like once I receive it.

WaterField sleeve all the way! Best accessory for my iBook, aside from the 512MB RAM stick.

Chito, wanna post some close up pics of how your sleeve fits the corners on the iBook? Finboy makes a good point about the tendency of damage with the 12 iBook case material. The guy below did a pretty good review for the Powerbook but the sizes of the two are a little different.

Just received my PowerSleeve from BOOQ -- it's AWESOME! I showed it to my PC lovers at work and they were all raving about it (and its just a bag). Looks & construction are top notch. Now just gotta be patient for the new iBook to come in (expected next Wednesday )

Did you happen to get a chance to photograph the sleeve?

When I got my 12" iBook G4 I bought a Notebook ScreensavRZ and Powersleevz from Radtech.us. The quality is extremely high and both are made from very tough microfibre cloth.

My iBook gets put into a backpack for transportation when needed (not a special laptop bag at all) and the Powersleevz does the job nicely.

Take note, though, that of the items listed above, the Radtech Powersleevz is not a "bag." Its more like a pricey tight blanket for your iBook/PowerBook.

I have one myself, and though its nice and all, it won't be as "useful" as a regular sleeve-bag. I use the PowerSleevz with the InCase Sleeve (bag).

I agree - the Powersleevz is more to protect the laptop when its being transported in something that's not some nice cozy padded computer bag.

My case - I got a couple shoulder totes at a convention (made by Western Concepts - a canadian company) - my iBook perfectly fits inside, just enough pockets for the essentials and more, handle on the top, a shoulder strap and doesn't scream 'I have a laptop in here, steal me!' But there is no padding and some of the sown edges and zippers are less than kind to the iBook's shiny surface. So I put in in the Radtech sleeve and then into the tote for convenient unpretentious transportation and still keep my iBook in great condition.

Hi. I've just switched and now a proud owner of 12-inch G4 Ibook.
Looking for a good protective sleeve for it now.
Have narrowed search down to Zeroshock sleeve from Shinza (www.shinza.com) or from a similarly looking one from Idee Technology (www.ideetechnology.com).
I found the one from Idee Technology being sold locally in the AppleCentre here but have not yet seen the Zero-shock from Shinza personally.
Could anyone advise on these two brands? Any difference in their 'protectiveness'? If someone has used Idee tech before with their ibook, please feedback. Will be much appreciated!

the shinza is awersome; fits well (but not too tight).
sturdy, seems protective.

i throw it in my backpack & am good to go!
