Okay, I know this has been covered before (but I didn't find much when I searched)...

You hear conflicting stories about the Radeon Mobility 9200 in the ibook compared to the GeForce Go 5200 in the 12" powerbook. Some people say the Radeon is better, some say the Radeon is better. Does anyone here have anything to add?

I am on the verge of picking up a new 12" powerbook. I agonized long and hard between the powerbook and the ibook. When the new 12" powerbook came out sporting 64mb VRAM I figured that combined with a better educational discount on the powerbook pretty much settled it. The problem is that I have some lingering doubts about the nVidia card in the powerbook (I have never liked nVidia cards).

Does anyone know about video performance between the two machines? I do not game, I do however do a fair amount with video. On desktop machines I have always felt that video looked slightly better on ATI cards than on nVidia cards IMHO.

Thanks.

Just weigh the options, if you think a Radeon with 32MB is enough then go with the iBook, the PB has 64MB now which should help out lots. If your deciding between the two and money is a concern, I'd check out the Rev B 12" seeing how you could span without the hack and it comes with a superdrive. I personally would go with 64MB Nvidia rather a 32MB ATI.
NOW YOU SEE ME! 2.4 MBP and 2.0 MBP (running ubuntu)
