two things:
how do i make the expose f9 key work without pressing FN F9 and also what is the f8,f9,f10 keys on the powerbook for?

the keys look like a horizontal line with litle dots or lines shooting out.

If I'm not mistaken the key's in question are for your backlighted keyboard. One turns it off, one lowers, and the other highers. For not holding the Fn key try searching in your system preferences under either the expose tab or the keyboard and mouse tab. Something there will enable you to choose an option of having those keys for expose or for the actual key or sumptin like that. It's been covered before here just don't know where. Hope this helped sorta.

F8 = backlight on/off
F9 = brightness down
F10 = brightness up

my question is, does anyone know how to configure one of the keys to emulate the PrtScr button on Windows?

i use Remote Desktop Companion to control an XP notebook when i need to take screenshots or test things on WinBlows.

any help?

currently, i have to turn on the on-screen keyboard (universal accessibility option) so that i can click the PrtScr button, but i would rather not have to do that.

just press command-shift-3

or change it in the keyboard shortcuts tab of the mouse/keyboard control panel

i know how to take a screen shot on the mac side, but no matter how high the display settings are set for Remote Desktop Companion, they are not true to the actual screen on Windows.

i get a better (higher quality) screen shot when i take the shot from within the windows environment, and then save the image and move it to the Mac.

does anyone have a solution for mapping the print screen button to a function button (or any other) on the Mac?

thanks.

option-command-c

No need to even read the manual. It's in the menus.
