My brother's 12 inch PB has little spacers in the corners of the screen. This helps it close better. My 15AL does not have these. I have see a product that adds them and i am going to purchase them, but am I missing them or is it a design difference?

The 15" Powerbooks do too have "spacers". They are built into the gasket and are on the top side corners. They are not the same as on the 12", but they are there.

What do you mean they don't work as well? They work just as they are intended. They keys do not touch the screen. If you want to waste your money and stick door stoppers on your computer, you sure can.

Peter KG is right, The spacers on the 15" and 17" work just as intended. They look smaller but they protect the screen. The reason they don't use the bigger ones like the 12"PB and iBook is because the 15" and 17" models use a spring loaded latch to keep the lid closed.
In order to maintain the "thin" design while keeping the keys from touching the screen the spring loaded latch produces a "gap" between the screen and the keyboard for protection.
If you put the 15"PB into a sleeve the gap gets squeezed tightly but the bumpers in the lid still protect the screen.

when you pick up a closed 12 inch or a closed Tibook they feel solid while you carry them. My 15al feels like a cheap toy clanking fully closed and slightly open when i carry it. A laptop this expensive should feel solid when closed not like the lid doesn't fit right.
