I have a Powerbook G4 running OS 10.2.8 . I just tried for the first time to burn a DVD since I believed I had a Superdrive but I am not longer so sure. Toast identifies it as a Matshita DVD-R UJ-815. Will this drive be able to burns DVDs?

Thanks

Yes, if it says DVD-R it's a Superdrive that can burn DVD's.

You can check yourself that it's the same model as Toast claims by getting info about your computer (under the Apple menu and then click "more info").

OK. I have now tried to burn the DVD on the Powerbook as well as a Superdrive-equipped iMac and Toast gives the same error message on both as it tries to recognize the blank DVD "The disk drive is open" and then it ejects the DVD. It is a high-quality Maxwell DVD so I don't really know what is going. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks
Zack

If the DVD doesn't work on a number of drives (as your post suggests), then you may wish to think about using a different brand of DVD-R .....
