i have been considering this move and when i have the money i will make it however i wish to no hat real benefits i will get from:
800 G3 1.33 G4
32Vram 64Vram
604MBram 256MBram

those are the main updates really i want to learn programming in the summer and start using some 3D rendering oh and to be able to record music live into garageband.

This is very similar to the change I will be making this weekend:

Old iBook:
G3 700
640 MB
16 MB VRAM

New PB (coming Saturday!!):
G4 1.5
512 MB (for now)
64 MB VRAM

I had some time to use my girlfriend's 1.25 G4 PB and the difference is night and day. I CANNOT wait for mine to get here!

And no, you can't use the RAM from your iBook in the PB. I'm pretty sure your iBook uses the same RAM as mine, which is just PC133 SDRAM. The PowerBooks take DDR333.

EDIT: About the backlit keyboard: I'm not sure if it is worth that much money, but it is DEFINITELY convenient. I end up doing a lot of late night work when my girlfriend is sleeping and her backlit keyboard is very nice to have.

Personally I did not opt for the backlit keyboard. YMMV.

Your iBook RAM will not work in the powerbook, since the G3 iBook you have uses PC100/133 SDRAM and the PowerBook uses DDR SDRAM, sorry.

I actually haven't decided what I'm doing with my iBook yet. The PB is a graduation gift that I was just told about this past week, so I wasn't expecting it. I'll probably hold on to it and just make it my Linux laptop as I wanted to do that for a long time, but didn't want to sacrifice disk space.
