I'm trying to install OS X on my 5300 (just kidding).

Seriously, I have a 5300ce that I use for downloading pictures in the field. It's been used very little recently, but I turned it on last night and there is a 1.5" band of pink at the top of the screen. I can still see the cursor.

Has anyone else ever experienced this type of problem? Any idea what's going on?
He can be fixed -- you can't.

Don't quote me on this but either the LCD is boad (did you drop it?) or the cable coming from the system to the lcd is bad.

Sounds like your backlight's dying after all these years. You could pick up a new LCD for next to nothing if you want to repair it.

I used a 5300c for 3 and 1/2 years and still have it in storage.
