I am thinking about replacing myself the hinges on my Ti. Any suggestions? I found them on eBay for $60.00 plus instructions. According to one of the feedback, it's pretty easy to do..

Any advice would be greatly appreciated...

We went with a $300 replacement plan to have them replaced by a good technician. They are ~$100 when not purchased on eBay. $100 for labor, $100 for shipping (there and back) = $300.

If you can afford to make a mess of your machine, give it a try and let us know! Looks like all 5 of our TiPBs are going to need to have their hinges replaced at some point.

There was a posting that the most critical factor if your hinges are a problem is to adjust the angle. If you just replace them at the same angle, you are going to have the problem again in the future (which is what happened, Apple repaired this machine's hinges once, then we just repaired it).

I'm not sure HOW to adjust the angle, tho!

it shouldn't be hard to do, i did this with my 520c a few times, and the hinge was hidden pretty deep in there. i also helped my friend with his crappy dell, the worst notebooks on the planet. i tightened the hinges on it. it was only like 1 year old too.

I DID IT.......I bought the hinges today on eBay. They emailed me instructions already and it seems quite easy. I am supposed to open the cover very carefully (it's glued) otherwise looks pretty simple.....

Wish me luck. I'll keep you posted

When openning the cover use a wide screwdriver. You don't want to bend it. Be careful.

Otherwise, the entire operation took me 1/2 hour

Thank you ibiricu. Highly recommended
