Anyone yet put a 1gb DIMM in a new 12"? Anything to say pro or con? I am expecting my PB to come on Monday and was thinking of ordering one to put in it. But they are expensive so I'd hate to pay that much and find there are some problems. For example, there have been problems with recent PB's dropping wireless signals when they have more than 1gb of RAM.

My Rev. C 12" with 1.25 gb of RAM is flawless. Tekserve in NYC sold me the 1 gb chip - its made by Samsung.
Best Mac I've ever owned.

I read about the wireless signal being affected too. I just bought my gb stick today. So far no affect on my wireless. Ill make sure to post if anything changes.

That's odd about having over a gig of Ram effect wireless signal. I suppose a pseudo EM field from a stick of memory could slightly alter reception, but there is no reason it should cause that kind of issue. Perhaps a certain type of Ram is making more stress on the bus of the machine and less data is making it to the Airport card. Regardless, this is very odd indeed.

The best explanation I've read claims its probably a memory addressing or buffer type problem. The best workaround seems to be:
The solution I got from AppleCare has worked with 1.25Gb and 2.0 Gb of ram so I am kind sure it worked.
1.Open up system preferences
2.Open up network
3.my location is automatic (yours may be different)
4.Show = network port configurations
5.Move Airport to top of the stack
6.Uncheck all except for Airport.
7.ckick apply now.

So far so good with Samsung 1gb stick! Reception though (even without the extra memory) is about the same as my old Rev A 12" sigh....

Yup, the Samsung is good stuff. I almost went nuts a few months ago trying to find 1GB stick that would work in my new Rev B 12" PB, two straight modules from Crucial gave me kernel panics galore (quite the education for a new switcher! ).
Finally got an Apple OEM Samsung part from MemoryX and it's been smooth sailing ever since.

<not bad for a relatively new switcher...>
