when I first bought my 1 ghz 15" Albook back in September, I remember the screen was way bright. I didn't feel it had quite the same smoothness as my old Tibook. But it was aight.
I've noticed a change in recent months. My screen is getting dimmer. I actually took it in to my local apple store and compared it to the ones they had on display. There was a very noticeable difference. My whites are starting to look like bright yellows and the menu bar up top is starting to look more and more grey.
Has anyone else noticed their 15" Albook screen getting dimmer after just a few months?

Have you looked in System Preferences - Displays to make sure you don't have the Automatically adjust brightness as ambient light changes box checked? Have you re-calibrated your LCD in System Preferences - Displays- Color?

I have tried everything. Brightness control, ambiance control, screen calibrator in display preferences, super cal...I even had the dude at the apple store reset my PRAM or whatever that's called. Apple says they'll take a look at it but they'll only replace the screen if it's out of spec.
I swear, if someone offered to trade me straight across for a 1Ghz Titanium I would be way tempted to take them up on it. I miss that machine. It was sweet.

i've had my screen replaced twice due to white spots, and the newest one is incredibly bright. brighter than it was before and brighter than my 800 mHz tibook. i would call applecare on the phone. i doubt you'll have any problems getting it replaced.

The same here. I remember the screen to be much more brighter at first. I've repaired it twice for uneven illumination. Actually uneveness seems to be less severe but the screen is overall dimmed compared to when i bought it.
