You think people complain about dead pixels on a 1280x854 laptop, just imagine the number of people complaining about dead pixels on 1920x1200 on a laptop.
Higher density screens == higher likelihood of dead pixels.

Dell has been selling laptops with 15.4" 1920x1200 displays for quite a while.

By that logic we should use VGA screens. Less dead pixels you know.

only if they run at a better megahertz than 60 cycles per second. the ones at my school run like that and give me the worst headache.

You better have bionic eyes to view a 1900x1200 resolution 17" display comfortably.

A Sony still runs XP... which is CRAP!
I know, I sold all my gear, and bought all PC (for numerous reasons... none involving happiness...)
And lemme tell ya, I am selling all my PC's, and going back to all Mac.
The long term stability of X over XP is unreal. XP just stops working with any reliability after 3 months.
They all warned me... I paid the price of not listening.
Stick with a PBook... they are the only Pro laptop period.

Pro laptop should not be made by some crappy Compal company and have a G4 in it.
But, it does have the best OS at the moment.
Regards.

I don't know who you can jack your computer up that much in 3 months. I have an XP machine that hasn't had one issue in the 1.5 years since I installed XP. I use my XP box for gaming, 3D modeling, programming, and even some music editing.

I keep an IBM ThinkPad around running WinXP Pro, mostly just to keep an eye on what Gates and those båstards in Redmond are up to. Plus, I have a second hard drive with Linux on it, mostly out of curiosity. All in all, I must admit, however grudgingly, that WinXP is not the steaming pile of horse dung that was Windows95/98/Me. While definitley not my first choice, XP is definitely "usable".

i haven't reformatted my XP Pro in almost 3 years. but i do have the latest and greatest Antivirus all the time, and three (3) firewalls up, and adware scans every now and then. XP Pro has been quite okay so far, but i must note that during the first 3-5 months, it can have an uptime of weeks, or months. but then it usually decreases until it froze every 3-4 days. i installed SP1 about 3 months ago and it helped a bit. now it can last up to 2-3 weeks if i'm lucky.
i haven't used OS X, but i know it takes some work to get XP to be acceptably reliable.

Hinges. These break all the time on Apple laptops, I wonder whether the design is right.
