Is the Bluetooth port active?

JKT - Bluetooth is there, but it is greyed-out.
I tried the PMU reset, but it's still not coming back to life!

According to the thread on the Apple Support site, it seems that one of the recent updates might be to blame.
Has anyone done all the updates and still have a working BT?
Thanks.

Yes I installed everything on my 1.25 15" (rev A or B or whatever we're calling it), and no 'tooth problems for me.
Good luck,

Did you run the Bluetooth firmware update? If so, Bluetooth will disappear until you shut down the computer and do a cold reboot. You may want to try updating Bluetooth again to see if that helps.
Good Luck,

Yes - i installed everything that Software Update told me to!!! (Including the firmware update).
I've pulled the battery - no dice.
Tried ctrl-shift-option-power - nothing.
Can't run the firmware updater 'cos it says there's no BT installed!!!

Yeah - I already did this. They're gone and when I restarted I'm still getting the wiggly line over the BT icon.
The preferences files didn't re-appear either....
So, I'm stuck again!
Thanks anyway

If your PB is only a day old, take it to an Apple Store if you have one near you.

Did you do the PMU reset correctly? When you restart after a PMU reset, you are reminded the date has changed. Did that happen?

I've had this problem happen myself,
fscking my disk and/or repairing the permissions is what brought my BT back to life.
Talk about timing though, I just bought Apple's BT keyboard and when t use it, and BT was greyed out. That's when I tried the permissions and fsck. Of course my aggravation level was high, no sooner do I buy a BT peripheral and my BT stops working - all is now.

I've already repaired permissions, and nothing.
Was your BT icon "squiggled-out"?

I suppose there's nothing in system profiler? If it's a software issue (which unfortunately it doesn't sound like it is) then system profiler will show this under the USB section.
Code:
USB Bus:
Vendor Name: Apple Computer, Inc.
Product ID: 32773 ($8005)
Speed: Up to 12 Mb/sec
Bus Power (mA): 500
Bluetooth HCI:
Speed: Up to 12 Mb/sec
Product ID: 33283 ($8203)
Bus Power (mA): 500
Vendor ID: 1452

Actually it is in there, but the system doesn't think it's a BT module any more.
Take a look:

How about that! I think you're in luck then.
What I'd do is first download the bluetooth software v1.5 from Apple, delete your bluetooth prefs and install to see if that works. If it doesn't, you might have to back up and re-install everything from scratch. Also, try deleting your cache files (esp. Extensions.kextcache and .mkext).
EDIT: Looks like the product ID field is off on the device listing (pegged at FF FF FF) - I wonder if it's lost it's MAC ID or something...

I guess I'll have to wait for Apple to come up with a solution... everything I've tried hasn't done anything!
Can anyone tell me if ioreg usually shows info about BT?
Thx.

USB A.
Have you tried booting from a clean installation or fresh user account to see if it's a driver/preferences issue?

Tried a fresh account.. nowt.
Haven't tried a clean install yet. Might try that soon, however, someone on the Apple discussions said this didn't work for him!
I am posting this using my new Airport Base Station though!

go to the apple store and boot from the equivalent powerbook g4 using target disk mode. this will give you the same data as a fresh install.
