I should update that poor, orphan thread about optimal settings with this:
It plays great, almost *no* stutter — get this — at everything maxed out!
Great!
12" 1.33GHz/768MB RAM
...on battery power playing multiplayer!

Can you give some examples of how the game stutters? How about with regular gameplay (non-multiplayer)? I am going to get the game soon and just want to make sure it will be worth it. I have an iMac 1.25GHz with 768 RAM. Anything you can add would be appreciated.

I barely noticed skipped frames during heavy, heavy gameplay; I haven't done any technical measurements, but put it this way: I didn't get frustrated by any of it. I also played single player and it was smooth as silk. Maybe I'm just not that discerning, but it was quite good. Multiplayer can be played without the DVD, but Single-player cannot, unfortunately be played without said disc (read: not portable-friendly).
I tried it on the 17" iMac (1GHz) and that was fine at moderate settings (haven't tested maxed-out settings).
Still hoping Battlefield will be even better.

What resolution are you running at?

Isn't there a no-cd patch for it?

Thanks! That makes me feel better about making the purchase. As long as it isn't anything like Halo I think my iMac should be up to the challenge.

--1024*768; it can actually go higher, but the screen gets cut off (top and right, which requires you to set everything back to Default)
--I don't know about a no-CD patch. It's a DVD, though I imagine you could make a disc image out of it (I wonder how long that will take).
I would never pretend that this a gaming rig, by the way — just a great tool that can also entertain. I should add though, YMMV: Your Mileage May Vary. Run, don't walk, and get this game!

It plays nothing like Halo — which I'm despising more and more. It's far better, IMHO. In fact COD plays, dare I say it, as smooth as the PC version.
Have fun.
